Research Blog: Commercial Conventions
For my commercial I want to do an advertisement on Crocs. I chose this idea because I love Crocs and I want to convince other people on why it would be a good idea to get them. To start off I want to advertise the strong reasons on why Crocs are worth it, their durability, comfortability, and cost effectiveness. I envision my audience to be moms on the go, or travelers always on a plane, athletes and even many more kinds of people. With my advertisement I would like to show my audience how this product pertains to them and now the question is how am I going to do that? To start off I would like to film my commercial in multiple locations, where I show how diverse Crocs are, if my audience can see that Crocs are not just for one thing, they’d be more interested. For the technical part of my commercial I want to use low angle shots, because I want to capture the shoes as much as possible, I want long shots, so you can see everything about where I am. I would also be using lots of track to have the camera follow me around in the locations that I’m in, I think this camera movement would show how productive I’m being which is what Crocs represent. I would like to use lots of high-key lighting to brighten up the setting, once again to add onto that productivity mood. Another aspect I want to add into the Crocs is their comfortability, I would like to create a visual that shows how comfortable Crocs could be even when doing important things, and that if it weren’t for certain dress codes, Crocs could be used for just about everything. For body language I would like to capture clips from just the legs down, and I would do some that were full body, the leg down shots are to give a more detailed look of the shoes, and the full body shots are to create a mood, and emotion for how the person wearing the Crocs are feeling. In my commercials I don’t want to have many written words, I would only include that to show my location. When I film my commercial I want to have a calm music in the background, I feel as though that the music accompanied by the tasks being done in the commercial will work well together. I would also like to have other objects in my commercial, I can specify details in my planning blog, but if I show myself or someone else getting things done in the commercial and being productive, and comfortably at that, I think that would add onto to the commercial. Now I would like to give a little more background on Crocs, they come in many colors, so you can be stylish, also in tons of sizes for men and women. They also have different styles of Crocs, such as platforms, which give them an extra boost, they even make sandals, and they also make them for babies. They even have JIBBITZ, which are little design emojis you can add onto them to make them even more creative, you can get themed ones, or get your initials and so many more. Crocs are also very cost effective, on their website they charge 45$ for a basic colored pair, and although some people may look at it as a little pricey, with the amount of things they can be used for combined with their durability it is worth it. They charge extra for the different style of Crocs, such as the sandals being 30$, the platforms being 54$ but that may vary, and they also have a fur lined style of Crocs that have a lining of material inside them that make it more comfortable and are also suitable if you live in colder weather, for that it would be more expensive as well. Overall I’m going to strive to convince my audience on why this product is a good idea.
