Crocs Filming Blog
I filmed my commercial for my Crocs project today and I had many encounters throughout my filming process. Before I started filming I wrote a script, and even though I plan on doing voice overs, in the editing process, I wanted to know how long I should have filmed each clip for. To start off for my first scene, I wasn’t able to film in one of my locations, the grocery store. After I sat and thought for a while I wanted to come up with an alternative that would give the same productive vibe as going to to the grocery store and I decided to do an exercise. In one of my previous blogs I mentioned that Crocs should not be used for strenuous tasks on the feet. They could however work effectively for lifting weights or doing arm work. So that's what I did, I filmed some short arm workouts that could be done in Crocs. The good part about this alternative option is that it shows how I could do something productive but comfortably. A good tactic I used in one of my other filming projects was that since I had a script, I timed myself on how long it would take me to say that specific clip. When it came to actually filming I recorded myself for that same amount of time. This will benefit my voiceovers in the editing process. For my second clip I filmed myself reading a book on my couch. This was very easy and didn’t take long, and I filmed it in my living room. I decided to "pretend" use the book to kill a mockingbird, because its one of the only books I own. For last scene I pretended to hit a volleyball against my wall for setting practice and it also went really well. I did it in the evening, so there was nice lighting outside. When I filmed I used my iPhone to record and I made sure it was in landscape mode. It took me about an hour and a half to film just because did quite a bit of retakes. I got my mom to help me record some clips for me, even though I had to bribe her to do it. Overall the filming process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
