Genre Decision Blog

After researching action, drama and thriller movies, my partner and I decided on using thriller for our genre. When it came to action movies it seems as though it requires more intensity and fight scenes. Action movies also usually have more props and makeup. It also includes lots of stunt work and special effects. With our idea it doesn't have those same characteristics. Nor does our idea fit the concept. When It came to the drama category, it could have been close, but there just isn't as much sentiment, but instead evil and secrecy. Drama is a bit less darker than thriller. Drama is also more light hearted than thriller. Thriller is involved with the mystery behind certain things. As it pertains to our movie, the death of the mother and how it came to be. A lot of questions will be raised, such as why, what ,and how? The pitch of our movie is that a mother tries to make her bestfriend a godmother but it all backfires in her demise. We want the audience to be on the edge and to have an unexpected experience. The audience should have the same emotions as the mother. She had no idea what her bestfriend would be up to. The mother would feel such great regret with the decision to make her bestfriend the godmother. It would unfortunately be too late to do anything. We feel as though with our resources and concepts this would be best portrayed through a thriller access. The mystery soon ties in. The godmother gets away with it until the end, where pieces start adding up and the truth is revealed. This is the decision for our genre on our film.
