Creative Critical Reflection

Image
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Over these past 3 filming projects that I have done, I have had many different encounters with the way I've used my conventions. The first project I used very little, especially since I had barely any clue on what they were. The second time I was able to create a commercial, and base off of my audience, and what they would want to see. This time, I used very little conventions with my partner. We made our music video, to a pop song, and it was very contradictory, because the upbeat and happy vibe of the song, was completely opposite from the concept. In Michael Jackson's music video to Black and White, he was able to mesh both of the sides together, while having POC's in his video, there were creative dances and costumes to match the pop theme.  In our music video, we tried to tie-in the pop theme with the upbeat and happiness in our music video, we weren't sad or gl...

Music Video Project

                                                                                (172) Music Video Project - YouTube In this blog I will discuss the overall experience of my music video experience. It was so much fun working with a partner than by myself. I feel like my partner and I were able to work well together. Maybe well be able to work together in the future. As far as the project goes, I think it was fairly easy. I was very interested in the concept , and although the project wasn't perfect, I enjoy the direction my partner and I took it. I uploaded the video the same way as I did the last time, through YouTube. There was an issue when it came to putting it in blogger because the video doesn't want to seem to load. For the project, the planning was fairly easy. I feel like when it ca...

Editing Blog for my Music Video

Image
The editing process for the music video was fairly easy for my partner and I. When it came down to the entire project, I was better in the filming section. My partner kind of took over when it came to the editing part. Especially since she had more experience in that field. We edited on Cute Cut Pro, and one of the first things we did was the songs. While my partner did most of the physical editing, I was more of the creative director. I went in and made suggestions and tweaks on what I thought could be better. As I was speaking on, the music, I thought that it would have been a cool idea to add have most of the song be the instrumental. I thought that if we added in a few lyrics of the chorus plus the instrumental, it would pair well with the music video, and the playful idea. My partner and I wanted to deal with the big issue, the clips not being filmed in the same direction. Some clips were in landscape, the others were in vertical position. We were told the correct way we were...

Filming Blog for My Music Video Part 2

Image
I decided to do a second part for the filming blog to talk about some of the challenges we faced while filming. To start off the weather was as nice as we hoped, and it ended up being really cloudy. It luckily didn't rain. When we went to go film, the park that we intended on going to was closed, due to COVID. The area was nice, and we were able to find patches of grass, that were good to film on. In my planning blog, I mentioned that we may or may not end up bringing props, which we did. We brought a picnic basket, and had paper plates and cups for us to pretend to use. We also brought a blanket for us to sit on. When it came to filming at the park, there were a lot of people, which we expected, but some of them were in the way at first, which made it hard to film. Eventually when it came down to filming, we took the clips pretty quickly, but we had an issue with being concentrated and focused, because we were joking around most of the time. We also made the mistake of not filming...

Filming Blog for my Music Video

Image
Me and my partner decided to film last Sunday, on November 29th. First I drove to my partners house. When I got to Fatima's house, our plans for the music video was still the same. I had brought the supplies needed for the video, and me and my partner headed off to the park. When we got their, I set up the set for our scene, and we began filming. My partner filmed the first clip, which was the establishing shot. For the next clip Me and my partner both filmed a POV for each other, where we had our "picnic". I filmed a POV for me looking at my partner through my eyes, and my partner filmed a POV of her looking at me. The next scene we walked to my partners house. We also filmed a POV, just like the picnic scene, where we walked down the street. I filmed for myself and my partner filmed for herself. When we arrived  to my partners house, I set up the next scene, for us to play Just Dance. We decided not to do a POV because it would be harder to film since we were dancing m...
